Governor and Family Celebrate with Missouri Youth at Easter Event

JEFFERSON CITY– Gov. and Mrs. Matt Blunt and their two-year-old son William Branch today hosted the annual Easter Egg Hunt for children with developmental disabilities on the front lawn of the Missouri Governor's Mansion.

"Melanie, Branch and I are honored to have this opportunity to welcome Missourians to our state's capitol and join with them in celebrating Easter," Blunt said. "This event is always a lot of fun and we want to thank all of those who have worked so hard to once again make the annual event a success."

"Today's celebration is a part of the wonderful history of the Missouri Governor's Mansion," Mrs. Blunt said. "We are delighted to join so many Missouri children and families to celebrate traditional events, like the Easter Egg Hunt."

Thumbelina, the world's smallest horse, was a feature in today's festivities. Also on the Mansion grounds children enjoyed face painting, a petting zoo and pictures with the Easter Bunny.

The Easter Egg Hunt is sponsored by Missouri Mansion Preservation, Inc. and paid for with donations. Tom Ward and Scott Ward of Russell Stover Candies, Inc. have provided Easter candy and funding for the Easter Egg Hunt. Additional contributions were received from Wal-Mart Supercenter and SCHOLASTIC, Inc.
