Making Big Bluestem Official State Symbol - June 11, 2007

June 11, 2007 - Gov. Matt Blunt signs House 680 designating the Big Bluestem as the official grass of Missouri. Students from Harry S. Truman Elementary School in Rolla suggested the grass be honored with the official designation and worked with Rep. Bob May to see their proposal through the legislation process.  Over the last four years, students in Christine Schmidtgall’s fourth grade attended hearings, tracked the legislation and testified for the bill.
