February 28, 2008 - Preserving Caruthersville Historic Courthouse

Gov. Matt Blunt announces a $53,900 grant to help preserve the Pemiscot County Courthouse.  The grant is part of the Missouri Heritage Properties Program, which helps preserve our state’s historic, publicly-owned buildings.

February 20, 2008 - Missouri's Second Injury Fund

Gov. Matt Blunt, Senate President Pro-Tem Michael Gibbons and Speaker of the House Rod Jetton stand behind Rep. Steve Hunter’s call for Attorney General Jay Nixon to provide needed information regarding the Second Injury Fund.  Under Nixon, the Second Injury Fund’s total expenditures have dramatically risen from $10.6 million in 1993 to $72.7 million in 2007. Since 1993 total expenditures from the Second Injury Fund have risen 586 percent.

MoSMART

Gov. Matt Blunt signs legislation saving the Missouri Sheriff’s Methamphetamine Relief Teams (MoSMART) that were cut by the Congressional leadership in Washington.  The governor’s action provides more than $1.8 million in supplemental funding to help in the state’s fight against meth after Congress eliminated federal support for this important Missouri program.
