The governor mobilized the guard to provide needed assistance. Guard members have helped transport generators, gone door-to-door in affected areas to check on the well being of their fellow Missourians, and have distributed food, water and blankets.

“My first concern as we design a new health care system is to improve access for patients and help lower the cost of health insurance for everybody. I have talked, and more importantly, listened to Missourians about their health care needs. One change I am proposing is the Health Care Home model. Under our plan, patients who participate would have a homebase for health care where professionals know their medical history and can recommend care, early detection and preventative actions to improve their wellness. Preventing or treating health care problems before they become hospital emergencies will dramatically improve the quality of life and care for Missourians.”

Gov. Matt Blunt talks about his intention to increase reimbursement rates by $5 per child, per day for residential treatment services to help reduce the funding gap that existed when he took office.  Since taking office, Blunt has increased reimbursement rates by $15. With the additional $5 increase he announced today, that gap would close to only $30. Gov.
