Gov. Matt Blunt visits The Shelter in Columbia where he signs bi-partisan legislation to enhance laws protecting women and children harmed at the hands of others. His action significantly strengthens laws governing the rights of domestic violence and sexual assault victims.
"It is a fundamental duty of our state government to protect Missourians from violent criminals. I am pleased to enact this important, bi-partisan legislation that toughens sentences, helps maintain victims’ dignity, and protects safe harbors, like The Shelter, designed to assist those in danger."

Gov. Matt Blunt makes the Alternatives to Abortion Program permanent and takes action that will keep abortion providers like Planned Parenthood out of Missouri’s classrooms. Gov. Blunt signs legislation at Concord Baptist Church in Jefferson City that enacts the provisions to further protect the sanctity of human life.

July 5, 2007 - Ending Social Security Cut for Thousands of Missouri Seniors

Gov. Matt Blunt visits with seniors at Lutheran Senior Services at Lenoir Woods to sign legislation that ends the tax on Social Security benefits for tens of thousands of Missouri seniors. The tax relief package for Missouri's seniors was one of the governor's top priorities during the legislative session.
"Missouri's tax on Social Security benefits is an unjust cut on Missourians' hard earned income. Like many other challenges this is not a problem we created, but it is a problem we have solved. For too long Missouri's social security tax has kept seniors from receiving the benefits they earned. I am pleased to sign the Senior Tax Justice Act ending the Social Security cut for tens of thousands of Missouri seniors."

Gov. Matt Blunt signs legislation to enact Mo HealthNet, his initiative to provide a better health care program for low income Missourians. In a visit to Jiffy Lube, the governor highlighted how new technology components in the program will help improve efficiency and care.
