9:15 a.m. - Keynote Speaker: Dr. William Schmidt (Missouri Room)
Dr. Schmidt is a Distinguished Professor at Michigan State University and is currently co-director of the Education Policy Center, the U.S.-China Center for Research, and the NSF PROM/SE project. His writing and research concerns issues of academic content in K-12 schooling, assessment theory and the effects of curriculum on academic achievement. He is also known for his work on educational policy related to mathematics, science and testing.
9:50 a.m. - John Yochelson's Presentation of the Missouri Data Book (Missouri Room)
Mr. Yochelson is the President of Building Engineering and Science Talent (BEST). BEST created the Missouri Data Book, which gives an overview of the challenges and opportunities facing the state.
10:30 a.m. - Governor Blunt's Roundtable Discussion (Missouri Room)
The Governor will conduct a roundtable discussion between education and influential business leaders from across the state on the importance of math, engineering, technology, and science (METS) skills to Missouri's economic development . The group also will discuss how to prepare students and our future workforce for the innovative, high-skilled jobs found in the METS industries.

12:00 p.m. - Lunch and Speaker: Dr. Eugene Hickok (Jefferson Room)
Dr. Hickok is the senior policy director at Dutko Worldwide. He will speak about why math and science education will be so critical to the economic development of our country and what other states are doing to address this issue.
1:15 p.m. - Breakout Sessions (Group 1: Kansas City Room; Group 2: Springfield Room; Group 3: Carnegies Room; Group 4: Truman A Room; Group 5: Truman B Room; Group 6: Truman C Room; Group 7: Missouri Room)
Participants will proceed to their assigned rooms to engage in mini-roundtable discussions and develop strategies addressing the following priority areas: (1) Improving the performance of all Preschool through Graduate (P-20) level students; (2) Expanding the pool of students motivated to pursue METS careers; (3) Expanding the pool of Missouri's P-12 METS teachers; and (4) Increasing public awareness of the importance of METS-related industries and jobs in enhancing Missouri's global competitiveness and innovation.
