Blunt Appoints Robert Carter 44th Judicial Court Associate Circuit Judge

SPRINGFIELD— Gov. Matt Blunt appointed Robert C. (Craig) Carter as the Associate Circuit Judge of the 44th Circuit Court in Douglas County.

Carter is a native of the region who currently resides in Clever and is a partner at Keck & Carter, L.L.C. in Springfield. He previously worked with Newberry & Keck, L.L.C. His broad legal experience has given him a background in municipal defense, insurance defense, and personal injury clients. Carter obtained his juris doctorate from the University of Arkansas.

As a member of the National Guard, Carter was deployed to Kosovo in 2002 as part of Operation Enduring Freedom. In Kosovo he was an advisor and liaison to Polish, Ukranian, and Lithuanian Infantry while assigned to the 10th Special Forces Group.

"Craig Carter brings impeccable credentials and a diverse background to this important judicial position," Blunt said. "I know that he will be a fair-minded judge who interprets laws instead of attempting to create them from the bench."

Carter replaces Roger Wall for a term ending when a successor is elected or appointed and qualified.
