Blunt Nominates Terry Jarrett to Administrative Hearing Commission

JEFFERSON CITY–Gov. Matt Blunt today nominated his general counsel Terry Jarrett to a six year term on the Missouri Administrative Hearing Commission.

Jarrett, 46, of Jefferson City has served as Blunt’s general counsel since January 2005 and held the same position while Blunt was secretary of state from 2001 to 2005. Prior to joining Blunt’s staff Jarrett worked in private practice at the firm of Husch and Eppenberger in Jefferson City.

“Terry is a superb lawyer and a good friend and I will miss his wise counsel in the governor’s office,” Blunt said. “He brings a diverse legal background to the Administrative Hearing Commission and I know he will continue to serve the people of our great state with tireless dedication.”

The Administrative Hearing Commission is a neutral, independent, administrative tribunal that decides disputes involving state agencies and another party, usually a private person or corporation. The commission typically decides cases after a trial type hearing, listening to evidence and arguments from the state and the other party. Any party, including the state agency, may seek review of the commission’s decision from the judicial branch.

Jarrett will replace Karen Winn. His nomination is subject to Senate confirmation.
