Blunt Proclaims November as Adoption Awareness Month

JEFFERSON CITY–Gov. Matt Blunt today signed a proclamation declaring November as Adoption Awareness Month in Missouri.

“All children deserve a loving home,” Blunt said. “Missouri is fortunate to have wonderful parents willing to adopt and open their hearts and homes. Our state agencies will continue to work tirelessly to find adoptive families for children who deserve a home.”

More than 2,000 Missouri children are in the foster care system daily, waiting for a safe, loving and permanent home. Missouri partners with national and local organizations to raise awareness of the need for adoptive families. Partners include the Missouri Heart Gallery, Adopt USKids and the Dave Thomas Foundation.

Those interested in becoming an adoptive parent can call 1-800-554-2222.
