Allen Named OA Assistant Commissioner
JEFFERSON CITY - The Office of Administration announced today that Randy Allen, who previously served as the director of the Division of Design and Construction, has been named assistant OA commissioner.
Allen, whose appointment is effective immediately, will report directly to OA Commissioner Michael Keathley.
"Randy brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to this position and I am looking forward to working with him to ensure that the Office of Administration runs efficiently while meeting the needs of Missouri taxpayers," Keathley said.
Allen, 51, was a practicing architect and partner in The Architects Alliance, Inc. in Jefferson City from 1976 to 1993. He was named director of OA’s Division of Design and Construction in 1993.
The division is responsible for capital improvement projects at the majority of state-owned facilities. During his time as division director, Allen oversaw the management of more than $1 billion in design and construction projects and successfully implemented one of the largest prison expansions in state history.
A native of Jefferson City, Allen received a bachelor of architecture degree, cum laude, from Kansas State University. He is married to wife Grace and the couple has three children.
Meanwhile, in a continued effort to streamline state government, Keathley announced the elimination of the position of OA public information officer. The move means that OA press inquiries should be directed to Missouri Governor Matt Blunt’s communications office. The state will save $55,000 in salary and benefits as a result of the change.
