Blunt Makes Appointments to State Boards and Commissions

JEFFERSON CITY–Gov. Matt Blunt announced appointments of members who will serve on various state boards and commissions.

Clean Water Commission

Frank L. Shorney (D), 63 of Lee’s Summit, is a retired civil engineer. Mr. Shorney previously served as vice president and manager of water supply consulting at Burns and McDonnell. Mr. Shorney holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Kansas State University and master’s in environmental health engineering from the University of Kansas. His appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on April 12, 2010.

Missouri Higher Education Loan Authority

Dr. Robert H. Spence, 71 of Springfield, is president of Evangel University. Dr. Spence holds a bachelor’s degree in history and master’s in school administration from the University of Alabama, and a doctorate of divinity from Southeastern College of Assemblies of God. His appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on Oct. 22, 2008.

Missouri Western State University Board of Governors

Lesley J. Graves (R), 42 of Tarkio, teaches sixth grade at Tarkio Elementary School. Ms. Graves holds a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Her appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on Oct. 29, 2011.

State Milk Board

Erwin P. Gadd (R), 80 of Jefferson City, retired for the Missouri Department of Health in 1991. Mr. Gadd holds a bachelor’s degree in agriculture and a master’s from the University of Missouri-Columbia. His reappointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on Sept. 28, 2010.

Patricia M. Mahoney (D), 53 of St. Louis, is the environmental health supervisor for the City of St. Louis Health Division. Ms. Mahoney holds a bachelor’s degree in urban affairs from St. Louis University. Her reappointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on Sept. 28, 2010.

Task Force on Alternative Sentencing

Jeff Mittelhauser, 50 of Sedalia, is prosecuting attorney for Pettis County. Mr. Mittelhauser holds a bachelor’s degree in speech communication from Central Missouri State University and a juris doctorate from the University of Missouri-Columbia. His appointment is for a term ending on May 31, 2007.
