Blunt Makes Appointments to State Boards, Commissions and Councils

JEFFERSON CITY–Gov. Matt Blunt announced appointments of members who will serve on several boards, commissions and councils.

Board of Geologist Registration

Penny Bennett, 68 of St. Charles, is a retired educator. Bennett holds a bachelor’s degree in education from Avila College. Bennett’s appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on April 11, 2009.

Environmental Improvement and Energy Resources Authority

Deron L. Cherry (R), 46 of Lee’s Summit, is the owner of United Beverage Co. Cherry is a former Kansas City Chiefs player. Cherry holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Rutgers University. Cherry’s reappointment was confirmed by the Senate for a term ending on Jan. 22, 2007.

Land Reclamation Commission

James M. DiPardo (D), 57 of St. James, is the owner and operator of Rosati Sandstone, Inc. DiPardo holds a bachelor’s degree in parks, recreation and tourism from the University of Missouri-Columbia. DiPardo’s reappointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on Sept. 28, 2009.

Lincoln University Board of Curators

Dana Tippin Cutler (R), 42 of Kansas City, is an attorney at James W. Tippin & Associates. Cutler holds a bachelor’s degree from Spelman College in Georgia and a juris doctorate from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Cutler’s appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on Jan. 1, 2012.

Missouri Board of Examiners for Hearing Instrument Specialists

Theresa J. Parker, 63 of Kansas City, is the owner of Raytown Hearing Aid Sales & Service. Parker received certification in hearing instrument sciences. Parker’s appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on Jan. 11, 2010.

Missouri Community Service Commission

William Jay Acock (R), 58 of Russellville, is a program director at the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, Community Education Section. Acock holds a bachelor’s degree in education from Southwest Missouri State University and a master’s of education from Drury University. Acock’s appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on Dec. 12, 2006.

Claire R. (Becky) James-Hatter (D), 43 of St. Louis, is president and CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Missouri. James-Hatter holds a bachelor’s degree from Northwestern State University. James-Hatter’s appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on Dec. 12, 2007.

Missouri Head Injury Advisory Council

Dr. M. Ellen Nichols, 49 of Joplin, is employed with Freeman Health Systems. Nichols holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Kansas-Lawrence and a medical degree from the University of Chicago. Nichols’ appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on May 12, 2008.

Missouri State Committee of Interpreters

Iola C. Jasper, 69 of Sunrise Beach, retired to become her mother’s primary care provider. Jasper holds an associates degree in elected studies from Thomas More College in Kentucky. Jasper’s appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on Oct. 9, 2006.

State Board of Registration for the Healing Arts

Dr. Jean R. Hausheer (D), 48 of Kansas City, is a partner at Sabates Eye Centers and a clinical assistant professor at Hospital Hill Health Services Corporation. Hausheer holds a bachelor’s in biology and a doctorate of medicine from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Hausheer’s appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on Sept. 3, 2008.
