Blunt Makes Appointments to State Boards, Commissions and Councils

JEFFERSON CITY–Gov. Matt Blunt announced appointments of members who will serve on several boards, commissions and councils.

Fire Safety Advisory Board

Gregory A. Pottberg, 47 of Independence, is fire chief at Fort Osage. Pottberg holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Columbia College. Pottberg’s appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending at the pleasure of the governor.

Missouri Head Injury Advisory Council

Betty P. Council, 54 of Vienna, is a program relations manager at the Division of Medical Services in the Department of Social Services. Council’s appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on May 12, 2008.

John S. Korte, 33 of Columbia, is the manager of the Life and Health Section at the Department of Insurance. Korte holds a bachelor’s degree in social work and sociology from Luther College in Iowa. Korte’s appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on May 12, 2008.

Missouri Health Education Centers Council

Dr. Michael D. McCunniff, 52 of Lee’s Summit, is the director of Outreach and associate professor at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry. McCunniff holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Creighton University, a doctorate in dentistry from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and master’s of dental public health from the University of Iowa. McCunniff’s appointment is subject to Senate Confirmation for a term ending on Feb. 1, 2009.

Dr. Mark E. Skrade, 49 of Rogersville, is the president of Forest Institute of Professional Psychology. Skrade holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Evangel University, a master’s of psychology and psychological doctorate from the Forest Institute of Professional Psychology. Skrade’s appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on Feb. 1, 2007.

Rebecca R. Steele, 51 of Chillicothe, is director of the Northwest Missouri Workforce Investment Board with North Central Missouri College. Steele holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and sociology from William Jewell College. Steele’s appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on Feb. 1, 2009.

Motorcycle Safety Program Advisory Committee

Joseph G. Kempker, 44 of Holts Summit, is a printing services tech for the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations. Kempker is also a member of the Freedom of the Road Riders. Kempker’s appointment is for a term ending on Aug. 28, 2006.

Roland “Neil” Meyers, 56 of Raytown, is coordinator and a certified driver instructor/rider coach for the Missouri Motorcycle Safety Program. Meyers holds a bachelor’s degree in human resources management from Friends University in Kansas. Meyers’ appointment is for a term ending on Aug. 28, 2006.

Bill R. Nelson, 55 of Jefferson City, is director of the Missouri State Highway Patrol Driver Examination Division. Nelson is a graduate of the Police Administration Management Program at Northwestern University. Nelson’s appointment is for a term ending on Aug. 28, 2007.

Robert D. Schildknecht, 43 of Warrensburg, is the associate pastor of youth, education and activities at Grover Park Baptist Church. Schildknecht attends Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Schildknecht’s appointment is for a term ending on Aug. 28, 2007.

Organ Donation Advisory Committee

Jessica L. Melching, 30 of Manchester, is the director of the Communications Center at the Mid-America Transplant Services. Melching holds a bachelor’s degree in health management from Southeast Missouri State University. Melching’s appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on Jan. 1, 2010.

Saint Charles County Convention and Sports Facilities Authority

Thomas G. Heinsz, 58 of Wentzville, is director of Organizing for the Carpenters’ District Council of Greater St. Louis and Vicinity. Heinsz’s appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on April 27, 2011.

State Advisory Council on Emergency Medical Services

Ben D. Chlapek, 49 of Liberty, is the deputy chief for the Central Jackson County Fire Protection District. Chlapek holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from William Jewell College and master’s of public affairs from Park College. Chlapek’s appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on Jan. 5, 2010.

State Historical Records Advisory Board

Christopher A. Gordon, 38 of Kirkwood, is an archivist for the Missouri Historical Society in St. Louis. Gordon holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and master’s in history from Southwest Missouri State University. Gordon’s appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on Nov. 1, 2006.

David E. Richards, 40 of Springfield, is an associate professor of library science at Missouri State University. Richards holds a master’s in history from Western Illinois University and a master’s of library and information science from Louisiana State University. Richards’ appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on Nov. 1, 2007.
