Blunt Makes Appointments to State Boards and Commissions

JEFFERSON CITY–Gov. Matt Blunt announced appointments of members who will serve on various boards and commissions.

Coordinating Board for Higher Education

David A. Cole (R), 42 of Cassville, is an attorney at the firm of Ellis, Cupps and Cole. Cole holds a bachelor’s degree from Missouri Southern State University and a juris doctorate from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Cole’s appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on June 27, 2012.

Missouri Fire Safety Advisory Board

Andrew J. Nimmo, 32 of Joplin, is chief of the Redings Mill Fire Protection District. Nimmo is a certified paramedic, fire instructor and hazardous material technician. Nimmo’s appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending at the pleasure of the governor.

Missouri State Employees’ Retirement System Board of Trustees

Garry E. Taylor, 62 of Jefferson City, is the principal owner of GETCo Consulting Service. Taylor holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Westminster College and master degrees in community development and public administration from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Taylor’s appointment is for a term ending at the pleasure of the governor.

Missouri State University Board of Governors

Cathy Smith (R), 59 of Trenton, is vice president/secretary of L.E.T., Inc. Smith holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Missouri State University and a masters of education in curriculum and instruction from William Woods University. Smith’s appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on Aug. 28, 2007.
