Blunt Makes Appointments to State Boards and Commissions

JEFFERSON CITY–Gov. Matt Blunt announced appointments of members who will serve on various boards and commissions.

Missouri Cotton Growers’ Organization Board of Directors

Joe (David) Blakemore, 52 of Campbell, is the general manager for B&B Cotton Company. Blakemore attended Southeast Missouri State University. Blakemore’s reappointment is for a term ending on June 26, 2008.

Missouri Military Preparedness and Enhancement Commission

Kent D. Thomas (R), of West Plains, is chancellor of Missouri State University-West Plains. Thomas holds a bachelor’s degree in international relations from Georgetown University, a master’s degree in industrial relations from Purdue University and a master’s degree in military arts and science from the Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth. Thomas’ reappointment is for a term ending on May 27, 2009. Robert L. Welling (D), of Warrensburg, is an attorney with Welling Law Office. Welling holds a bachelor’s degree and juris doctorate from St. Louis University. Welling’s appointment is for a term ending on May 27, 2009.

Missouri Planning Council on Development Disabilities

Janice C. Enfield, 43 of Independence, is a self advocate volunteer with People First of Missouri. Enfield is a graduate of Partners in Policymaking. Enfield’s appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on June 30, 2007.

Robert (Bobby) O’Dell, 30 of Conway, is a sales clerk with Wal-Mart. O’Dell is vice president of People First- Lebanon and a member of Disability Connection. O’Dell’s reappointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on June 30, 2008.

Shelly R. Shetley, of Kansas City, is an advocate for individuals for developmental and physical disabilities. Shetley holds a bachelor’s degree in human services from Park University. Shetley’s reappointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on June 30, 2009.

Sharon Smith, 30 of University City, is a teacher’s aide at Childgarden School. Smith’s reappointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on June 30, 2008.

Kit. O. Stahlberg, 45 of Fredericktown, is an employee at the Madison County Sheltered Workshop. Stahlberg is a member of People First. Stahlberg’s appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on June 30, 2008.

Missouri State Liaison for the National Museum of the Marine Corp

Captain David F. Hunter, 59 of Jefferson City, retired from the United States Marine Corp after 24 years of active duty, 14 years enlisted and 10 years as a commissioned officer. Hunter’s appointment is for a term ending at the pleasure of the governor.

Regional Convention and Sports Complex Authority

Thomas J. Irwin (D), 55 of St. Louis, is senior vice president of the St. Louis Regional Chamber and Growth Association. Irwin holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts and a master’s in public administration from Harvard University. Irwin’s reappointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on May 31, 2012.

Richard (Rick) Sullivan, Jr. (R), 54 of St. Louis, is chairman for McBride and Son Management Company, Inc. Sullivan holds a bachelor’s degree from Rockhurst University. Sullivan’s appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on May 31, 2010.

Suicide Prevention Advisory Committee

Donna M. Scott, 46 of St. Louis, is executive director of Unmasking Suicide, Inc. Scott is a Question, Persuade and Refer (QPR) certified gatekeeper instructor, National Organization for People of Color Against Suicide board member and survivor support facilitator. Scott’s appointment is for a term ending on Oct. 1, 2009.
