Blunt Makes Appointments to State Commissions and Councils
JEFFERSON CITY–Gov. Matt Blunt announced the appointments of members who will serve on several commissions and councils.
Citizens’ Advisory Committee on Corrections
Karen A. Burns, 56 of Washington, is a corporal at the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office. Burns is a charter life member of the Missouri Deputy Sheriff’s Association. Burns’ appointment is for a term ending on Sept. 10, 2008.
James M. Shemwell, 69 of Mexico, is a minister at the United Methodist Church. Shemwell holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Missouri and a master’s of divinity from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Shemwell’s appointment is for a term ending on Sept. 10, 2007.
Hall B. Whitaker, 57 of Rolla, is owner of Whitaker Enterprises, LLC. Whitaker holds a bachelor’s degree in education from Delta State College and a master’s in social work from the University of Missouri. Whitaker’s appointment is for a term ending on Sept. 10, 2008.
Governor’s Council on Disability
Joseph A. Colagiovanni, 49 of Clayton, is a partner at Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal LLP. Colagiovanni holds a bachelor’s degree from Brown University and a juris doctorate from Boston University. Colagiovanni’s appointment is for a term ending on Oct. 1, 2009.
Hani C. Soudah, 46 of University City, is chief of medical services at Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital and assistant professor of clinical medicine at Washington University School of Medicine. Soudah is a graduate of the Eppendorfer Klinik Medical School at the University of Hamburg, Germany. Soudah’s appointment is for a term ending on Oct. 1, 2009.
Missouri Real Estate Appraisers Commission
Rick J. Muenks, 40 of Springfield, is an attorney at Rick J. Muenks, Attorney at Law and a managing member of Southwest Valuation, LLC. Muenks holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Central Missouri State University, a master’s in applied economics from the University of North Texas and a juris doctorate from Texas Wesleyan University School of Law in Fort Worth. Muenks’ appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on Sept. 12, 2008.
Missouri Small Business Regulatory Fairness Board
Maria G. Taxman, 54 of St. Louis, is CEO and co-founder of Avanza Hispanic Marketing Specialists. Taxman holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Saint Louis University. Taxman’s appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on April 30, 2006.
Missouri State Board of Nursing
Mark F. Miller, 46 of Lee’s Summit, is a certified registered nurse anesthetist at Outpatient Anesthesia Specialist LLC. Miller holds a bachelor’s degree of mechanical engineering from Kansas State University, a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Kansas School of Nursing and a master’s in biology from the Truman Medical Center School of Nurse Anesthesia at the University of Missouri- Kansas City. Miller’s appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on June 1, 2009.
Safe Drinking Water Commission
Randall L. Moore, 51 of Kirkwood, is vice president of market development at Utility Service Company, Inc. Moore holds a bachelor’s degree in metallurgical engineering and master’s in engineering management from the University of Missouri- Rolla, and a master’s in business administration from the University of Missouri- St. Louis. Moore’s appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on Sept. 1, 2008.
State Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors
Martin D. Vernon (D), 47 of Hartville, is funeral director of Holman- Howe Funeral Home. Vernon is a graduate of the Dallas Institute of Funeral Service. Vernon’s appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on April 1, 2010.
State Committee of Martial and Family Therapists
Lois A. Linton (R), 69 of Ballwin, is chairwoman for the St. Louis Chapter of Freedom Foundation at Valley Forge and West St. Louis County Chapter President of Eagle Forum. Linton holds a bachelor’s degree in English literature from Washington University. Linton’s appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on Jan. 26, 2009.
