Blunt Makes Appointments to State Boards and Commissions

JEFFERSON CITY–Gov. Matt Blunt announced appointments of members who will serve on various boards and commissions.

Missouri State Committee of Interpreters

Carrie L. McCary, 31 of Fulton, is a staff interpreter in the Office of Disability Services at William Woods University. McCary holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and sign language interpreting and a master’s in education from William Woods University. McCary’s reappointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on Oct. 9, 2009.

State Board of Education

Donayle E. Whitmore-Smith (D), 38 of St. Louis City, is the founder of the Ptah Academy of Arts & Science. Whitmore-Smith holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from Southern University A&M College in Louisiana. Whitmore-Smith’s appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on July 1, 2012.

State Committee for Social Workers

Laura M. Neal, 30 of Columbia, is director of Oncology Social Work and Patient Support at Ellis Fischel Cancer Center. Neal holds a bachelor’s degree in social work from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a master’s of social work and public health from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. Neal’s appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on Oct. 23, 2009.
