Blunt Makes Interim Appointments to State Boards, Commissions and Councils

 

JEFFERSON CITY—Gov. Matt Blunt announced the interim appointments of members who will serve on several boards, commissions and councils.

Advisory Commission for Clinical Perfusionists

Michael C. Phillips, 55 of Columbia, is the chief perfusionist at Missouri Perfusion Services, Inc. Phillips holds a bachelor’s degree from Southwest Missouri State University and attended the Surgical Technologist Training Program at Boone Hospital Center. Phillips’ appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on Feb. 13, 2011.

Advisory Commission for Dental Hygienists

Deborah K. Polc, 52 of Independence, is a community dental specialist for Clay County Public Health Center. Polc holds a bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene from the University of Missouri- Kansas City School of Dentistry. Polc’s appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on March 22, 2010.

Air Conservation Commission

Patricia A. Wilcox, 44 of St. Louis, is an attorney with Weiss & Associates, P.C. Wilcox holds a bachelor’s degree in management from the University of Missouri- Columbia and a juris doctorate from the St. Louis University School of Law. Wilcox’s appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on Oct. 13, 2005.

Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Rules

Francis G. Slack, 58 of Frontenac, is president and CEO of Trabue Industrial Systems and CBK & Associates. Slack holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering management and a professional degree from the University of Missouri- Rolla. Slack’s appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on Sept. 27, 2007.

Board of Geologist Registration

John L. Bognar, 51 of St. Louis, is a senior associate and office manager with Leggette, Brashears & Graham, Inc. Bognar holds a bachelor’s degree in geology from Southwest Missouri State University. Bognar’s appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on April 11, 2007.

Joseph Gulino, 57 of Hartsburg, is principal of St. Peter Catholic School in Jefferson City. Gulino holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of San Francisco and a master’s and a doctorate in education from the University of Missouri- Columbia. Gulino’s appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on April 11, 2008.

Children’s Trust Fund Board

Dena Ladd, 44 of St. Louis, is a community volunteer for St. Louis Children’s Hospital, Epworth, Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, United Way, and Junior League. Ladd holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from Drury University and a master’s in public administration from Southern Illinois University. Ladd’s appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending Sept. 1, 2007.

Dam and Reservoir Safety Council

Jeffrey D. Cawlfield, 48 of Rolla, is the associate chair at the Department of Geological Sciences and Engineering at the University of Missouri- Rolla. Cawlfield holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Washington State University and a master’s and doctorate in civil engineering from the University of California- Berkeley. Cawlfield’s appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on April 3, 2007.

Governor’s Council on Disability

Donna L. Pavlick, 53 of Columbia, is an assistant dean and lecturer in law on admissions, financial aid and student services at the University of Missouri- Columbia School of Law. Pavlick holds a bachelor’s degree in physical therapy from the University of Pittsburgh, a master’s in psychology from the University of Northern Colorado and a juris doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. Pavlick’s appointment is for a term ending on Oct. 1, 2005.

Missouri Board for Respiratory Care

Cindy L. Seyer, 42 of Cape Girardeau, is director of respiratory care services at Southeast Missouri Hospital. Seyer received training as a certified respiratory technician from Cape Girardeau Area Vocational School and training as a registered respiratory therapist from California College for Health Sciences. Seyer’s appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on April 3, 2007.

Missouri Commission on Human Rights

Alvin Carter, 47 of St. Thomas, is a retired regional coordinator for the Department of Economic Development. Carter is a graduate of St. Louis University. Carter’s appointment as chairman is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on April 1, 2011.

Herman W. Elmore, 79 of St. Charles, is a retired vocational rehabilitation specialist for the Veteran’s Administration. Elmore is a graduate of Washington University. Elmore’s appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on April 1, 2011.

Missouri Head Injury Advisory Council

William M. Duff, 60 of Osage Beach, is the former chief of surgery at the Lake Regional Health System. Duff holds a bachelor’s degree from Westminster College, a master’s in physiology from Oxford University and a medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine. Duff’s appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on May 12, 2008.

Missouri State Committee of Interpreters

Mary (Kathleen) Alexander, 41 of Rocheport, is a co-owner of Columbia Interpreting Services and commissioner for the Missouri Commission of the Deaf. Alexander hold’s an associate’s degree in American sign language from Vincennes University. Alexander’s appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on Oct. 9, 2008.

Small Business Regulatory Fairness Board

John S. George, 56 of Mount Vernon, is president and CEO of Mid-America Dental & Hearing Center. George received a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of Missouri- Rolla. George’s appointment as chairman is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on April 30, 2008.

State Mental Health Commission

Ronnie D. Dittemore, 66 of St. Joseph, is a mental health consultant. Dittemore holds a bachelor’s degree in physical education from Northwest Missouri State University, a master’s in psychology from Central Missouri State University, a master’s in guidance counseling/ psychology for Northwest Missouri State University and a doctorate in education from Western Colorado University. Dittemore’s appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on June 28, 2008.
