Blunt Makes Appointments to State Boards and Commissions

JEFFERSON CITY– Gov. Matt Blunt announced appointments of members who will serve on several boards, commissions and councils.

Amusement Ride Safety Board

James E. Burlingame (R), 30 of Joplin, helps operate Rt. 66 Carousel Park, a family owned entertainment center. Mr. Burlingame holds a level 2 NARSO Certification. His appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on April 17, 2010.

Board of Therapeutic Massage

Carl D. Nelson, 67 of St. Joseph, is the massage coordinator at the St. Joseph Family YMCA. Mr. Nelson is a graduate of the Kansas City College School of Swedish Massage. His reappointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on June 17, 2010.

Dawn Standley, 42 of Osage Beach, is the owner of American Physical Therapy, L.L.C. Ms. Standley holds a bachelor's degree in biology from the University of Tennessee and a master's in physical therapy from Baylor University. Her reappointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on June 17, 2011.

Child Abuse and Neglect Review Board

Brian D. Dunlop, 53 of Webster Groves, is a partner at the law firm of Dunlop and McCarter. Mr. Dunlop holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a juris doctorate from Washburn University. His reappointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on April 7, 2010.

Hispanic Business, Trade and Culture Commission

Marta I. Burgin (D), 33 of St. Louis, is president of Brassavola Group. Ms. Burgin holds a bachelor's degree from Washington University and a juris doctorate from Tulane Law School. Her appointment is for a term ending on Nov. 30, 2009.

Missouri Pet Spay/Neuter Fund

Mary Kathleen Wallace, 49 of Oakview, is senior animal control officer for the City of North Kansas City and has over 15 years experience in animal control. Ms. Wallace is a past board member of the Missouri Animal Control Association. Her appointment is for a term ending on July 12, 2010.

Rene S. Ward, 53 of Eldon, is the manager of Friends of Animals Thrift Shop. Ms. Ward serves as the treasurer/administrator for the Friends of Animals Humane Society, Inc. Her appointment is for a term ending on July 12, 2010.

Petroleum Storage Tank Insurance Fund Board of Trustees

Bruce V. Work, 65 of Cuba is a self-employed business consultant. Mr. Work received bachelor's degrees in mathematics from Monmouth College and civil engineering from the University of Missouri- Rolla. His reappointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on Feb. 6, 2011.

State Historical Records Advisory Board

Christopher A. Gordon, 39 of Kirkwood, is an archivist for the Missouri Historical Society in St. Louis. Mr. Gordon holds a bachelor's degree in political science and master's in history from Southwest Missouri State University. His reappointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on Nov. 1, 2009.

Anne G. Rottmann, 51 of Jefferson City, is the head librarian for the Legislative Library at the State Capitol. Ms. Rottmann holds a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Missouri State University and a master's in library science from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Her reappointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on Nov. 1, 2007.

State Interagency Coordinating Council

Joyce E. Sims, 54 of Nixa, is a therapy coordinator at the Developmental Center of the Ozarks. Ms. Sims holds a bachelor's degree in occupational therapy from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Her appointment is for a term ending at the pleasure of the governor.

University of Missouri Board of Curators

Anton (Tony) H. Luetkemeyer, 23 of Columbia, is a law student at the University of Missouri-Columbia. He holds a bachelor's degree in history and political science from the University of Missouri-Columbia. His appointment as the student representative is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on Jan. 1, 2008.
