Updated Statement from Gov. Matt Blunt on BRAC Recommendations

"I am extremely disappointed that the Base Realignment and Closure Commission voted to recommend against maintaining the important missions of the Defense Finance and Accounting Services in St. Louis and Kansas City and the Human Resources Command in St. Louis and the 2900 jobs associated with these missions. We have made tireless efforts to preserve the mission of the Defense Finance and Accounting Services and Human Resources Command based on information we believe best served our national defense needs.

"As a state, we were put in the unfortunate position of having to make up for lost time because of earlier failures to address these important issues. Missouri remains committed to our national defense and will continue to work in the future to ensure our remaining military missions are preserved.

"Very few things have as great an impact on families as the loss of a job. We will work to assist these families in this time of need and continue to hope for the best with respect to our other military facilities."
