Blunt Official Honored for Enacting Governor's Directive to Improve Quality, Efficiency

JEFFERSON CITY–Gov. Matt Blunt today congratulated Deputy Chief Information Officer Bill Bott, who was honored at the 2007 American Business Awards for his success in enacting the governor's directive to improve quality and efficiency in state government.

"I made a promise to ensure our state uses technology effectively and to build a state government that delivered results, which as this national honor recognizes, is exactly what my Administration is doing," Blunt said. "I congratulate Bill Bott and the Division of Information Technology Services whose efforts to follow through on my commitment to improving quality and efficiency has saved taxpayer resources and garnered national recognition."

Since he took office, Blunt has directed efforts to consolidate information technology (IT) resources across state agencies, improve access to government services available online, launch a business web portal to support new and existing Missouri businesses and entrepreneurs, and support Missouri's involvement with AMBER Alert Web Portal.

Mr. Bott received the Best MIS & IT Executive and is the first public employee from any state to win an individual award of any kind. The honor reflects his successful efforts to find innovative solutions to save taxpayers money and enhance IT delivery in the state as directed by the governor.
