Blunt Nominates Broeker to Head Division of Professional Registration

JEFFERSON CITY –Gov. Matt Blunt today nominated David T. Broeker to serve as director of the Division of Professional Registration.

Broeker, 58 of Jefferson City, is the co-owner of DB Distributing Company. Broeker is a veteran of state government serving in the administration of former Gov. Kit Bond as an assistant to the governor, as deputy for Internal Affairs under State Auditor Kit Bond and as executive assistant to State Auditor Margaret Kelly. He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and law enforcement from Central Missouri State University.

Broeker comes to the Division of Professional Registration during a time of transition. The division, along with the Division of Finance, State Banking Board, and Division of Credit Unions will be transferred from the Department of Economic Development to the Department of Insurance consolidating state agencies that manage and regulate financial services and provide professional oversight, creating the Department of Insurance, Financial Institutions and Professional Registration.

“David Broeker’s experience in both the private and public sectors will serve him well as the director of the Division of Professional Registration,” Blunt said. “I am pleased he has agreed to serve the people of our state once again and look forward to his contributions to our continuing reform of state government.”

Broeker’s appointment is subject to Senate confirmation and will assume his new responsibilities on July 2 replacing Allison Craighead who is resigning.
