Blunt Nominates Richard Phillips to the CMSU Board of Governors
WARRENSBURG - Missouri Governor Matt Blunt today nominated Richard Phillips of Lake Tapawingo to serve on the Central Missouri State University Board of Governors. The board consists of seven voting members and one non-voting student. Five members must come from the college district and the other two from different congressional districts.
Phillips, 64, has amassed an impressive record of over 30 years in service to public education. Originally a high school teacher, Phillips later worked as a teacher and assistant football coach at CMSU before beginning his administrative career. For 14 years Phillips worked for the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education directing Missouri's classification/accreditation program.
Phillips now serves as the director of the Missouri Student Success Network (MSSN) and is a past president of CMSU's Alumni Association. MSSN works with agencies and schools around the state who teach at-risk children.
The appointment of Phillips is subject to Senate confirmation.
