Blunt Expands Cable Service Choices for Missouri Consumers

JEFFERSON CITY– Gov. Matt Blunt today held a ceremonial bill signing for Senate Bill 284 which provides Missourians greater choice and lower prices for cable services.

"I appreciate Sen. Griesheimer's work on behalf of Missourians. His legislation will open Missouri's cable market up to competition translating into greater choices and savings for cable subscribers," Blunt said. "This action will also spur millions of dollars in investments and technology throughout the state."

Senate Bill 284, sponsored by Sen. John Griesheimer, enacts a statewide cable franchise agreement that will promote lower prices and expanded options through increased competition for Missouri cable consumers, and streamlines the process for new cable providers to enter Missouri markets. The governor signed the bill on March 22 and it goes into effect on August 28, 2007.
