Blunt Announces Over $600,000 to Support Tornado Recovery
JEFFERSON CITY–Gov. Matt Blunt today announced that Caruthersville and Pemiscot County will receive over $600,000 in state issued grants and tax credits to support the ongoing recovery efforts from the April 2nd tornado.
Caruthersville will receive a Community Development Block Grant worth $300,000. The grant will be used to assist with ongoing demolition and debris removal.
The Department of Economic Development will also issue $350,000 in Neighborhood Assistance Program tax credits to aid in the rehabilitation efforts of Pemiscot County. The tax credits will assist area residents who lost their homes with down payments for permanent housing and with intermediate housing needs while they purchase or construct a new home. The tax credits will also help residents who lost their vehicles travel to and from their jobs.
