Blunt Appoints Cook to Regional Convention and Sports Complex Authority

 

ST. LOUIS - Gov. Matt Blunt appointed Sam B. Cook (D) to the Regional Convention and Sports Complex Authority.

Cook, of Ladue, is president and chief operating officer of Central Bancompany, an asset bank holding company in Jefferson City. Cook is also chairman and chief executive officer of First National Bank of St. Louis. Cook holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Washington & Lee University and master degrees in economics and business administration and a doctorate in economics from the University of Missouri- Columbia.

Cook served on the Coordinating Board for Higher Education from 1992 until 2000. He is actively involved in several professional organizations including the Young Presidents’ Organization, the St. Louis Club Board of Directors and the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines Board of Directors.

Cook’s appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on May 31, 2006. Cook replaces Michael Shanahan whose term expired.

The Regional Convention and Sports Complex Authority consist of eleven board members, five appointed by the governor. The Authority oversees financing, design and construction of the domed stadium/convention center expansion.
