Blunt Appoints Cook to Housing Commission
JEFFERSON CITY - Gov. Matt Blunt has made an interim appointment of Loren Cook II (R) to the Missouri Housing Development Commission.
Cook, 39 of Springfield, is the owner and vice president of customer relations/public relations for the Loren Cook Company. The Loren Cook Company produces industrial and commercial fans and blowers. Cook is responsible for developing new customers and business opportunities for the company. Cook holds a bachelor's degree from Missouri Southern State University.
Cook's appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on Oct. 13, 2008. Cook replaces Gary Collins whose term expired.
The Missouri Housing Development Commission consists of the governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, treasurer and six members appointed by the governor, which serves as a bank that provides financing directly to borrowers or through private lending institutions. The commission administers the federal Low Income Housing Tax Credit, Missouri Low Income Housing Tax Credit and the Affordable Housing Assistance Tax Credit.
