Blunt’s Call for Commonsense Leads to Cost Savings for DNR

JEFFERSON CITY–Gov. Matt Blunt’s call for commonsense in state government spending led to a recent change at the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (DNR) that will save almost $13,000 annually.

The department recognized the savings by taking advantage of available postage discounts to distribute their Missouri Resources magazine.

“We continue to uncover and correct waste and inefficiency left over from 12 years of careless fiscal management,” Blunt said. “I applaud DNR and other agencies that are making proactive improvements to save taxpayers money and step up customer service.”

The department recently obtained approval from the U.S. Postal Service to use the non-profit mailing rate on the magazine, which reaches almost 67,000 readers. The change allows the department to save an estimated $12,752 annually based on current postage rates.

DNR publishes Missouri Resources three times each year. The magazine informs readers about important natural resource issues and how they are being addressed. Missouri Resources is free to any Missouri resident.
