Blunt Nominates Chapel to Head Department of Labor
JEFFERSON CITY–Gov. Matt Blunt today approved the Labor and Industrial Relations Commission’s nomination of Nimrod (Rod) T. Chapel, Jr. to serve as the director of the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations.
“I am pleased Rod Chapel has agreed to lead the Department of Labor,” Blunt said. “Rod will be a great asset to my administration and has the proven experience that will help him balance the needs of Missouri workers and businesses.”
Chapel, 35 of Kansas City, is the director of Legal Services Division and general counsel for the Department of Revenue. Chapel previously served as an associate in the Sly James Law Firm. Chapel holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Oklahoma State University, a juris doctorate from Tulane Law School and a master of laws in taxation from Washington University School of Law.
Chapel has represented both business and individual litigants in cases relating to breach of contract, employment discrimination and personal injury in both state and federal courts.
Chapel’s appointment is subject to Senate confirmation.
