Blunt Names Jane Drummond DHSS Director

JEFFERSON CITY–Gov. Matt Blunt today appointed Jane Drummond to serve as Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) director.

“Jane is an ideal replacement for Julie. Her legal experience and background with the department will be instrumental as she works to protect and promote Missourians’ health, at every stage of their lives,” Blunt said. “I have appreciated her wise counsel and am pleased she has agreed to continue her service to Missouri as the new health director.”

Drummond, 36, is currently the general counsel for the governor’s office. She previously served as general counsel for DHSS. Prior to joining DHSS, Drummond was an associate attorney at the law firm of Husch and Eppenberger in Jefferson City where she performed a variety of tasks associated with general civil litigation, including motion practice, depositions and written discovery.

Drummond holds a juris doctorate from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a bachelor’s degree in communications from Stephens College.

Drummond will begin work at DHSS in the coming weeks and will work with outgoing Director Julie Eckstein to facilitate a smooth transition.
