Blunt’s Focus on Technology Boosts Missouri’s E-Government Ranking

JEFFERSON CITY–Gov. Matt Blunt’s leadership continues to facilitate new technology application across state agencies and enhance available online services and has boosted Missouri’s national ranking in an e-government study. The State and Federal E-Government in the United States, 2006 study ranks Missouri 20th, a 20 spot bump from last year.

To compile rankings of overall state e-government performance, researchers from Brown University studied and compared the availability of online services, privacy and security, disability access and foreign language translation.

“We can be proud of the progress we have made to establish and enhance online tools that provide easy access to state services,” Blunt said. “This study represents independent verification of our significant progress to improve access to state government through the Internet.”

This is the seventh annual e-government analysis released by Brown University regarding e-government in all 50 states and major federal agencies. The researchers examined 1,503 state Internet sites, 48 federal government legislative and executive Internet sites, and 13 federal court Internet sites.
