Blunt Extends Executive Orders to Help St. Louis Area Cleanup Efforts

JEFFERSON CITY–Gov. Matt Blunt today issued Executive Order 06-30 extending his previous executive orders to facilitate ongoing cleanup efforts following last month’s severe storms.

“Communities and families are still working to clean up debris and damage left after July storms,” Blunt said. “I will continue to monitor the recovery efforts in the area to ensure that the state is taking appropriate steps to aid in the recovery process.”

The executive order issued today extends Executive Order 06-25 that declared a state of emergency existed within Missouri due to the severe weather. The extension of Executive Order 06-27 gives the Department of Natural Resources the discretion to waive laws and rules pertaining to waste disposal to eliminate debris. Both executive orders were set to expire on August 19. Today’s order extends that date to Sept. 22, 2006.
