Blunt Congratulates Erdman as Newest University Curator

JEFFERSON CITY–Gov. Matt Blunt congratulated Warren K. Erdman (R), of Kansas City, who was confirmed by the State Senate early this morning as the newest member of the University of Missouri Board of Curators.

“Warren Erdman is an honorable public servant who will make a great addition to the Board of Curators as they work to build a stronger University of Missouri system and prepare our students for tomorrow’s challenges,” Blunt said. “I am pleased Warren agreed to serve on the board and I congratulate him on his confirmation. I also wish to commend and thank the Missouri Senate and its leaders for confirming Warren. He will be a great curator and will meet their highest expectations.”

The Board of Curators is the governing body of a four-campus system including the University of Missouri-Columbia, the University of Missouri-Kansas City, the University of Missouri-Rolla and the University of Missouri-St. Louis. State law requires that the board be filled by a certain number of Republicans and Democrats from each of Missouri's nine congressional districts.

Erdman, 48, is senior vice president of corporate affairs for Kansas City Southern. Erdman holds a bachelor’s degree from Westminster College. Prior to joining Kansas City Southern he served as chief of staff for United States Sen. Christopher S. Bond. Erdman also worked in the Missouri governor’s office under both Bond and former Gov. John Ashcroft. Erdman was previously appointed by Blunt as co-chairman of the Missouri State Government Review Commission and by Gov. Bob Holden as vice-chairman of the Missouri Apportionment Commission.

Erdman is involved in a number of civic organizations. He is a member of the University of Missouri-Kansas City Trustees, chairman of the Economic Development Corporation of Kansas City and serves on the board of directors of Bank Midwest, N.A. of Kansas City. He also serves on the Kansas City Area Development Council, the Downtown Council, the Downtown Community Improvement District and the Greater Kansas City Metropolitan Arts Council.

Erdman replaced Angela Bennett for a term ending on Jan. 1, 2013.
