Blunt Nominates Kilgore to Serve on State Ethics Commission

JEFFERSON CITY–Gov. Matt Blunt nominated Michael S. Kilgore, a Democrat from the 5th Congressional District, to serve on the Missouri Ethics Commission.

Kilgore, 36 of Kansas City, is an associate trial lawyer in the Law Offices of Tim Dollar, LC. Kilgore has previously worked as an assistant attorney general/special prosecutor in the Missouri Attorney General’s Office and an assistant prosecutor in the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office. Kilgore holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a juris doctorate from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

“Michael Kilgore brings with him an exceptional legal background that will serve him well on the Ethics Commission,” Blunt said. “I am pleased that he has agreed to serve the citizens of Missouri and work to uphold the integrity of our political processes.”

The ethics commission receives and reviews complaints alleging violations of the conflict of interest and lobbying statutes and the campaign finance disclosure statute. They also review and audit campaign finance disclosure reports and provide information and assistance to lobbyists, elected and appointed officials and the general public.

Kilgore’s appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on March 15, 2010. He replaces Clyde Farris whose term expired.
