Blunt Announces Nearly $1 Million in Grants to Support Missouri Firefighters
JEFFERSON CITY–Gov. Matt Blunt announced that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has awarded Missouri $992,552 in grants to support Missouri’s fire departments and to help enhance Missourians safety.
“These grants help ensure that our firefighters have the tools they need to efficiently and effectively conduct their job and help Missourians in their time of need,” Blunt said.
The following fire departments received grants:
- Adair County Rural Fire District 1, Kirksville, $121,363
- Bloomfield Fire Department, Bloomfield, $106,590
- Cainsville Fire Protection District, Cainsville, $13,965
- Carterville Fire Department, Carterville, $85,310
- City of Kennett Fire Department, Kennett, $202,492
- Goldman Fire Protection District, Hillsboro, $43,971
- Gravois Fire Protection District, Laurie, $186,998
- Milan Rural Fire Department, Milan, $77,111
- Rock Community Fire Protection District, Arnold, $72,000
- South Metropolitan Fire Protection District, Raymore, $82,752
The grants are earmarked for operations and safety. The departments will use the grants to fund training, equipment, personal protective equipment, wellness and fitness, and modifications to fire stations and facilities.
The Assistance to Firefighters Grant program awards one-year grants to local fire departments. The grant program provides the departments with the tools they need to enhance the safety of the public they serve and their firefighters. The grants are administered by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Preparedness Directorate’s Office of Grants and Training in cooperation with the U.S. Fire Administration.
