Blunt Announces More Than $600,000 in Grants to Support Missouri Firefighters
JEFFERSON CITY–Gov. Matt Blunt today announced that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has awarded Missouri $603,131 in grants to support Missouri’s fire departments and to help enhance Missourians safety.
“I am pleased to announce this vital grant funding to support the efforts of our local firefighters and to help further enhance the safety of Missourians,” Blunt said.
The following fire departments received grants:
- Eureka Fire Protection District, Eureka, $93,354
- Jefferson R-7 Fire Protection District, Festus, $82,906
- Leadwood Fire Protection District, Leadwood, $129,276
- Mayview Fire Association, Mayview, $54,502
- Rock Port Fire Department, Rock Port, $83,771
- Shady Valley Fire Protection District, Imperial, $38,000
- Springfield Fire Department, Springfield, $24,000
- Sullivan Fire Protection District, Sullivan, $97,322
The grants are earmarked for operations and safety. The departments will use the grants to fund training, equipment, personal protective equipment, wellness and fitness, and modifications to fire stations and facilities.
The Assistance to Firefighters Grant program awards one-year grants to local fire departments. The grant program provides the departments with the tools they need to enhance the safety of the public they serve and their firefighters. The grants are administered by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Preparedness Directorate’s Office of Grants and Training in cooperation with the U.S. Fire Administration.
