Blunt Encourages Missourians to Recognize Flag Day
JEFFERSON CITY–Gov. Matt Blunt encourages all Missourians to remember Flag Day on June 14 and participate in appropriate ceremonies. This June 14th Gov. Blunt, Missouri's First Lady Melanie Blunt and their two-year-old son William Branch will join the residents of Kahoka for a Flag Day Parade.
"On June 14 we will celebrate our nation's flag and its patriotic symbol of freedom and opportunity for all," Gov. Blunt said. "It is our duty as Missourians to pass on to younger generations the significance of our flag and honor those who have given their lives to defend the freedom the flag represents."
President Truman signed an Act of Congress designating June 14 of each year as National Flag Day.
