Blunt Appoints Forrester to Parole Board

JEFFERSON CITY–Gov. Matt Blunt announced the appointment of Reid K. Forrester (R) to the Board of Probation and Parole.

Forrester, 45 of Poplar Bluff, is owner of Dollar-$-Mart, a small chain of dollar only stores. Forrester attended Three Rivers Community College in Poplar Bluff and studied business management. Forrester served on the Poplar Bluff City Council from 1996 to 2002 serving two years as mayor.

The Board of Probation and Parole determines the release of individuals from confinement in the Division of Adult Institutions through parole or conditional release. The board conducts monthly parole hearings. If a release date is set the board determines whether placement in release strategies such as electronic monitoring, residential facilities and community release centers is appropriate. The board stipulates special conditions in order to address specific offender needs and improve the opportunity for success under supervision. They also monitor the supervision of offenders in the community and return those offenders to prison who are a risk to the community.
