Blunt Appoints Hais to Missouri Gaming Commission

JEFFERSON CITY–Gov. Matt Blunt has appointed Samuel J. Hais (R) to the Missouri Gaming Commission.

Hais, 59 of Ladue, is a managing partner at the law firm of Hais, Hais & Kallen. Hais holds a bachelor’s degree and law degree from St. Louis University. Hais previously served as a judge on the 21st Judicial Circuit for more than 25 years.

“Sam Hais will make an excellent gaming commissioner who will provide the kind of oversight Missourians expect over this industry,” Blunt said. “He has an exceptional legal background which will serve him well in this position.”

Hais’ appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on April 29, 2009. Hais replaces Judith Hinrichs whose term expired.

The Missouri Gaming Commission was created in 1993 to regulate gambling boats. The Commission works to protect licensed gaming operations from criminal activities and to ensure that games are conducted fairly, according to statute.
