Blunt Announces $250,000 in Neighborhood Assistance Tax Credits for Hannibal Senior Center
HANNIBAL–Gov. Matt Blunt today announced that the Hannibal Area Council of Aging has been approved to receive $250,000 in state Neighborhood Assistance Program tax credits to expand their senior center services.
"Senior centers provide important social, nutritional and health improvement services to elderly Missourians in communities throughout our state," Blunt said. "I commend the Hannibal Area Council of Aging for seeking this state assistance and we are delighted to partner with them to provide these important services to Missouri seniors."
The Hannibal Area Council of Aging will use proceeds from the tax credits to purchase and renovate an existing building to expand their senior center services from 4,000 square feet to 10,000 square feet. This facility will allow the council to expand home delivered meals, congregate meals, provide exercise programs and add much needed kitchen space for their ongoing programs.
The Neighborhood Assistance Tax Credit Program, administered by the Missouri Department of Economic Development, provides assistance to community-based organizations that enable them to implement community or neighborhood projects in the areas of community service, education, crime prevention, job training, and physical revitalization.
