Blunt Appoints Mike Kehoe to Transportation Commission

JEFFERSON CITY— Governor Matt Blunt today announced that he has appointed Central Missouri businessman Mike Kehoe to serve on the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission.

Kehoe, 43, owns the Mike Kehoe Ford, Lincoln-Mercury-Jeep dealership in Jefferson City and the Mike Kehoe Lincoln-Mercury-Jeep in Columbia. Kehoe is a St. Louis native who moved to Central Missouri in 1987 to run Osage Industries in Linn. Kehoe purchased the Ford dealership in Jefferson City in 1992.

"Mike Kehoe has a keen understanding of Missouri’s transportation challenges, particularly those in Central Missouri," Blunt said. "Mike has held important leadership positions in both statewide and local professional and charitable organizations and understands the commitment Missourians expect and deserve from their public servants."

Kehoe’s dealerships have won numerous customer service awards from Ford and Lincoln-Mercury, and he has received several personal accolades for his business accomplishments including the Small Business Association’s "Young Entrepreneur of the Year" award in 1991.

Kehoe is an active member of several Central Missouri charitable organizations including the United Way of Central Missouri, The Great Rivers Boy Scout Council, Helias High School, Young Life, Special Olympics, and St. Joseph Cathedral and St. Patrick’s Church (Rolla) Family Adoption Program. He has been active in numerous civic campaigns and organizations in Jefferson City, including serving as the immediate past chairman of the Jefferson City Chamber of Commerce and is a past-director and executive committee member of the Missouri Automobile Dealers Association.

Kehoe’s appointment is subject to Senate confirmation. He will replace Larry Webber whose term expired in March. Webber will continue to serve pending Kehoe’s confirmation.

The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission is a six-member bipartisan board that guides the Missouri Department of Transportation. Commission members are appointed by the governor and confirmed by the Missouri Senate. No more than three commission members may be of the same political party. The term on the commission is six years.
