Blunt Appoints Buchanan to Jackson County Sports Authority

 

ST. LOUIS—Gov. Matt Blunt appointed Georgia Buchanan (D) to the Jackson County Sports Complex Authority.

Buchanan, of Kansas City, is president and CEO of All Pro Construction, Inc. Buchanan, 61, holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Lincoln University and a master’s in elementary education and an education specialist degree from Central Missouri State University. She has also received advanced business training from several institutions across the country.

Buchanan and her company have earned several accolades including recognition by the Kansas City Business Journal as a Top 25 Minority Company and a Top 25 Women Owned Business, by the Kansas City Chamber of Commerce as a Top Ten Small Business, by the US Chamber of Commerce as a Mass Mutual Blue Chip Award Winner, and by the Kansas City Globe as one of the 100 Most Influential People in Business.

Buchanan is an active participant in the Kansas City community. She was the founder of the Black Chamber of Commerce Annual Ball. She established the Buck Buchanan Fund at the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation and Affiliated Trusts. Buchanan is also a charter member of the Jackson County- Missouri Chapter of Links, a non-profit focused on community service for the youth and senior citizens.

The Jackson County Sports Complex Authority was created in 1966 and oversees operation of Kauffman Stadium and Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City.

Buchanan’s appointment is for a term ending on July 15, 2008. Buchanan replaces Jerry Mackey who resigned.
