Blunt Asks Jackson County Legislature for New Sports Authority Nominees

JEFFERSON CITY–Gov. Matt Blunt is asking the Jackson County Legislature to submit a new list of nominees to serve on the five-member Jackson County Sports Complex Authority.

On Aug. 1 Jackson County Legislators sent Blunt a panel comprised entirely of Democrat candidates. Currently the board is comprised of two Republicans and three Democrats. A vacancy now exists since Democrat member Tony Romano’s term expired on July 16.

Blunt has reviewed the list submitted by the Jackson County Legislature and is asking for a new list of candidates for his consideration who can help lead the Jackson County Sports Complex Authority through a new era which will include voter-approved improvements to both stadiums.

“There is a tremendous amount of change underway with both the Royals and the Chiefs and it is important to have a Sports Authority comprised of members dedicated to leading through this change for the future of this vital economic engine for our state and the Kansas City region,” Blunt said.
