Blunt Appoints Daniel Scott To State Appeals Court

JEFFERSON CITY–Gov. Matt Blunt appointed Daniel E. Scott to the Missouri Southern District Court of Appeals.

“Daniel Scott’s long history of varied and diverse legal practice will serve him well as he assumes the role of state appeals court judge,” Blunt said. “I am pleased he has agreed to accept this appointment to serve the people of the Southern District and state.”

Scott, 50 of Joplin, is a partner in the law firm Copeland, Scott & Brown. He has 25 years in general civil practice where he has served a wide range of individuals and participated in and tried a wide variety of cases. Scott holds a bachelor’s degree in mass communications from Central Missouri State University and a juris doctorate from the University of Missouri, where he graduated second in his class. He is an active community participant involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters, Ronald McDonald House, American Cancer Society, and Joplin Library Board among others.

Scott will fill the vacancy created by the resignation of the Honorable Kenneth W. Shrum.
