Blunt Calls on Statewide Officials & Senate to Endorse Resolution Preventing Judges from Raising Taxes

JEFFERSON CITY–Gov. Matt Blunt is encouraging statewide office holders and state senators to join him in supporting House Joint Resolution 1 to prevent unelected judges from ordering tax increases on Missourians.

“The issue of taxation without representation is an issue that rises above partisan politics,” Blunt said. “I encourage both Republican and Democrat statewide leaders and Senators to join me in support of this important Resolution to prevent unelected judges from increasing the tax burden on Missouri families.”

House Joint Resolution 1 was passed in the House last week in a 91 to 60 vote to stop Missouri courts from ordering tax increases without the approval of voters or their elected members of the Missouri General Assembly.
