Blunt Appoints Keathley to Lead Highway Patrol

JEFFERSON CITY–Governor Matt Blunt appointed Major James (Jim) F. Keathley to serve as the superintendent of the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

“Major Keathley has had a distinguished career at the Missouri Highway Patrol and has earned this high honor,” Blunt said. “He is a proven leader and an effective manager with the skills and respect of the employees needed to lead the state’s top law enforcement agency into the future.”

Keathley, 53 of Tebbetts, is currently the commander of the Criminal Investigation Bureau at the Highway Patrol. Keathley began his tenure with the Highway Patrol in 1977 as a commercial vehicle inspector in Caruthersville. He has also served in Jefferson City, Glen Allen and Sikeston, as a road trooper, investigator, supervisor, assistant division director and division director. Keathley holds bachelor’s degrees in agriculture and secondary education from Southeast Missouri State University.

Keathley’s appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending at the pleasure of the governor.
