Blunt Honors Sacrifices of Korean War Veterans
JEFFERSON CITY–Gov. Matt Blunt issued a proclamation honoring the sacrifices of the men and women who courageously fought in the Korean War to defend freedom and proclaimed today as Korean War Veterans Day.
“It is an honor for me to extend this special recognition to Missouri’s veterans of the Korean War,” Blunt said. “We owe all our veterans a debt of gratitude that can never fully be repaid but we must remain mindful of the sacrifices made in defense of freedom by these heroic men and women and their families throughout our nation’s history.”
Missouri is home to approximately 560,000 veterans. An estimated 153,000 Missourians served in the Korean War. Blunt asks all Missourians to observe today with appropriate honors and remember these brave men and women in our prayers.
Blunt also asks all Missourians to remember our military men and women serving in harms way all around the globe and to pray for their safe return to their families and friends. State law provides for the issuance of this proclamation.
