Blunt Proclaims Labor Day “Missouri Worker Appreciation Day”
JEFFERSON CITY–Gov. Matt Blunt has issued a proclamation honoring Labor Day as “Missouri Worker Appreciation Day.”
“Working Missourians can take great pride in the tremendous economic growth our state has experienced in recent years,” Blunt said. “Strong job growth is having a positive impact in communities throughout our state. I am pleased to issue this proclamation honoring the greatest workforce in the world and their commitment to making our state a better place to live, work and raise families.”
In 1894 the United States Congress declared Labor Day a federal holiday and the Missouri Legislature followed suit in 1895.
