Blunt Nominates Legan to Serve on State Ethics Commission

JEFFERSON CITY–Gov. Matt Blunt nominated Kenneth D. Legan (R) to serve on the Missouri Ethics Commission.

Mr. Legan, 60 of Halfway, is a beef cattle farmer and served as state representative from 1981 through 2002. Mr. Legan holds a bachelor's degree in agriculture from the University of Missouri-Columbia. His appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on March 15, 2010.

"Kenny Legan will make a tremendous addition to the Missouri Ethics Commission," Blunt said. "His experience as a former state representative will be invaluable as he once again answers the call to public service in this new capacity."

The ethics commission receives and reviews complaints alleging violations of the conflict of interest and lobbying statutes and the campaign finance disclosure statute. They also review and audit campaign finance disclosure reports and provide information and assistance to lobbyists, elected and appointed officials and the general public.
