Missouri Development Finance Board Approves Lewis and Clark Discovery Initiative
ST. LOUIS–The Missouri Development Finance Board (MDFB) voted unanimously today to approve Gov. Matt Blunt’s Lewis and Clark Discovery Initiative.
Today’s vote means the board has approved the plan to distribute $350 million from the Missouri Higher Education Loan Authority (MOHELA) to colleges and universities for capital improvement projects and to fund a program to commercialize research projects on Missouri college campuses.
“I commend the Missouri Development Finance Board for acting in the best interests of students and working families,” Blunt said. “The Lewis and Clark Discovery Initiative will improve the quality of higher education and help generate good paying jobs of the future.”
The MOHELA board is scheduled to vote on the initiative at its Sept. 27 meeting.
